Review of the DEAR Program

There were 108 students with the teachers had participated in the DEAR program from different schools of Dindigul District. Totally 45 minutes has given to them to read the story which is already given to them. After 45 minutes we had a review session by sitting together all the 108 students, teachers and the observers.
Really I was very excited to hear their feedback because it was completely different reading program where they could read without any condition that is under the roof of four walls of the class room.
Two students from each school came forward and shared their reading experience. The first thing they shared about what they read(story) in the given paper , they talked about few things from the story and they shared about the life lessons which they have taken to their personal life. The very first student Selvi.Avanthika of 9 th standard from TPKN Matic school shared the complete story and the life lesson, that was what are the problems, hurdles, unfavorable situation we face in our life just we will overcome all those situations with the confidence and we should move forward in our path to reach our success. It was an inspiring review not only to me but also for everyone . She expressed very clearly about the story, theme of the story and the characters. I appreciated her, the way how she explained her mind provoking thought. Like this other students they gave their feed back by connecting the story with the real-life. It was fantabulous thinking.
The next thing is, they shared their experience about the DEAR reading program particularly outdoor reading. They have given a very honest and thoughtful opinion about the reading. That was reading under the tress in the park , out door reading apart from the text book, out of four walls in the class room, unconditional reading made them to feel pleasure . That reading has brought inner peace to them and it was created the mindset to read regularly atleast few pages apart from the book as well the reading should be with the nature or some other new and different places. Then they said, they will share these experiences to their friends and try to make them also as a good reader. Then they told their gratitude to all for selecting them for this program.
They have expressed their opinion in a simple yet powerful way. It shows that their deep understanding of book reading and the ability to share it to others. On the whole the DEAR program made the students to the reader. That they enjoyed reading and they received the happiness of reading. I think this was the success of the DEAR program. In my point of view , like these programs definitely make today's students as a good reader and the readers will be good leaders in future.
