Report of my Exploratory Research

Writing is an art and craft that needs to be developed through deliberate practice.

      I have faced many problems related to writing. I could see my children's note book with lots of mistakes. They can't learn properly with the mistakes. I wish to make them to write without mistakes. So, I have planned to rectify this. 

MY TOPIC

" Misspelt words in English Writing of class III"

RESEARCH QUESTIONS

   What's the main problem for making many spelling mistakes when they write? 

My sub questions: 

TO MYSELF

1. Why are the children often writing with many mistakes in English? 

2. How many of them making more mistakes while they are writing their class work? 

3. How can I avoid this problem by using technology? 

TO MY STUDENTS

1. Is my handwriting legible to you children? 

2. Are my instructions is clear to you children? 

3. Is there any problem in identifying letters? 

TO PARENTS

1. Are they spell the words regularly while writing at home? 

TO MY SCHOOL COLLEAGUES

1. Is it a common problem for all in your subject? 

TO OTHER SCHOOL COLLEAGUES

1. Can everyone write without any spelling mistake in your school?  

      With keeping all these questions in mind I have started to my exploratory research. I travelled all sides to analyse this problem.  

         I conducted pre test before going analyse this problem. 

DATA COLLECTIONS

  I have collected datas from different areas. 

SELF ANALYSIS

First I started analysing by my self with my students note book. I found some details. These are some reasons I could find, lack of interest, not knowing the importance of writing, getting bored, less picture and technology usage.  

ANALYSIS WITH MY SCHOOL COLLEAGUES

  They also faced the same problems. Students are not able to concentrate their writing. They are not spell the words when they write. Simply they speak with others instead of reading and writing . Some times they don't know to pronounce the words correctly.  These are some reasons collected from my school colleagues. 

ANALYSIS WITH OTHER SCHOOL COLLEAGUES

 

 Lack of reading practice is one of the main reason for spelling mistake. They don't have the aware of silent address. Wrong pronunciation also  needs to make many mistakes. Some children never read the words while writing.

ANALYSIS WITH CHILDREN'S PARENTS

  Students are not doing home work regularly. They are writing home work by watching T.V.

 Some times my instructions are not clear. Some hesitation to ask the words again to me. 

      These are the datas collected by me for analysis.

   

MY ACTION PLAN

1. First I am going to visualise some attractive pictures to make interest in writing. 

2. I am going to use colourful wall chart with big and legible handwriting

3. I am going to make everyone to read the word with correct pronunciation before starting their writing work.

 4. I am going to check my slow bloomers  by asking them to spell words now I can easily find out their letter identification. 

5. I will give my instructions very clear to them and I have planned to give enough time to write. 

6. I will make them to recall spelling whenever they find free time. 

7.I will go for cross-check are they reading and writing or not. 

8. I will give rewards those who are writing without any spelling mistakes . This will make others to write without any spelling mistakes.  

CONCLUSION

     I am going to do all the above action plan regularly. I am sure I can make my children's handwriting with legible and without any spelling mistakes.
